An asthmatic patient at the clinic presented with a non-productive cough predominately at night, suggesting uncontrolled asthma. This prompted me to research uncontrolled asthma, its co-morbid risk factors and appropriate treatment based on the step-wise approach. According to the article, those patients with uncontrolled asthma refractory to other treatment should try adding a monoclonal antibody, omalizumab, to their treatment as a promising therapeutic option.
